About the eBogott 2010 Web Presence
eBogott.com is our playground for new web technologies that make updating a web page simple and transparent. HTML coding need be done only once for dynamic pages. Rapidly changing articles and information are managed by Spry, Ajax and XML functionality.
The headlines and news articles on the home page are provided from a dynamic XML file. This allows for rapid updates of the page content without modifying the actual page. The dynmic files throughout the site are controlled by Spry, the Adobe© toolkit for AJAX.
The photo galleries are Spry scripts that allow multiple photo galleries utilizing the same basic code. The selection of galleries and the individual galleries are a collection of XML files. Galleries may be added or deleted and photos added or deleted without modifying the visible web page.
The recipe box also utilizes multiple XML files, one for the list of recipes and one for each recipe. Additionally, a separate Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) for printing reformats the displayed information for a printer, eliminating all the web navigation and extraneous elements, printing ONLY the recipe information.
The Book Shelf also uses an XML file for the data, but allows for sorting by Title or Author and also uses an Spry "Accordion Widget" to open and close individual data pages. This widget allows for multiple pages each calling information from the same XML file.
